The Blood Moon is coming on Thursday night. A chance for the world to seem wonderfully strange. This thing we take for granted, sometimes stare in awe at, to which soon we will be trying to send humans to walk on again, in a way we only get to see it occasionally. Like when your neighbor painted her house in Key West colors, and for a while the neighborhood felt a little more like Key West. This Thursday is about seeing old things in new ways.

It’s also Lester Young’s 117th birthday, so we will give some attention to Prez as well, a man who helped us hear the tenor saxophone in a whole new way.
